lgbtqpiawtfbbq asked “i'm sure everyone would out in money for tumblr. i don't think you get it... none wants explicit content removed. Check the Yahoo twitter.”

Tumblr is supposed to be free ergo nobody will pay for it

There is so much explicit content available on the rest of the internet that something will rise up and take its place.

I never get tired of this photo.
Ella Fitzgerald was not allowed to play at Mocambo because of her race. Then, one of Ella’s biggest fans made a telephone call that quite possibly changed the path of her career for good. Here, Ella tells the story of how Marilyn Monroe changed her life:
“I owe Marilyn Monroe a real debt… she personally called the owner of the Mocambo, and told him she wanted me booked immediately, and if he would do it, she would take a front table every night. She told him – and it was true, due to Marilyn’s superstar status – that the press would go wild. The owner said yes, and Marilyn was there, front table, every night. The press went overboard. After that, I never had to play a small jazz club again. She was an unusual woman – a little ahead of her times. And she didn’t know it.”

Since I’ve reblogged this before, I’m goin ro add somethong this time that occurs to me the more often I see this post.
See to me, this is kind of a perfect lesson in how to be an ally. Marilyn used her privilege and power to make a space for Ella’s voice to be heard, and then sat down and listened to everything she had to say. She didn’t whine about how she had problems too, even though she did have many problems in her life, she didn’t talk over anyone, she just brought the spotlight and pointed it at who needed it.
/end my 2 cents.

lgbtqpiawtfbbq asked “we should make an indiegogo (like kickstarter, but better) to raise enough money to buy back tumblr.”
