Fetishizing ‘power’ in women characters – having them kicking ass and always being ready with a putdown - isn’t the same as writing them as human beings.

When I was your age, I used to think “Oh, when I’m grown up, I’ll know what I want, I’ll be sorted.” But you never really know what you want. You never feel grown up, not really. You never sort it all out… so I thought, I could handle life on my own.

Seeing a lot of posts about how “homophobic” Joan Rivers was. As an educated, discerning homosexual I think I’ve the right to point out that Joan never laughed at us, she invited us to laugh with her, and to make jokes at our own expense, much like she did for herself. Keep that in mind before you slam her for being something she totally wasn’t.

This video from her 1967 appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show perfectly captures Joan Rivers’ enduring, trailblazing career

Juxtapose that alongside her 2012 stint on Louie to get a taste of the comedienne’s signature wit
